Dove Commercial

Jennifer mentioned this in her comment to my post, and I think it relates to what Sheena was saying in hers. It is a pretty popular campaign, and Dove has done other things like their 'Real Beauty' campaign if anyone else was interested. After seeing things like this, and learning about the Dove company, I want to buy their products because I'm actually consuming in a healthier way and supporting the programs they have for young women and the positive messages they are trying to communicate. Maybe if we as consumers took the time to research where our money goes when we buy things, businesses with no morals would fail.

  1. I've seen this before... it was actually shown in class to demonstrate what was considered "good work" for the future careers of me and my fellow photographers when I was obtaining my first degree. When I viewed it for the first time I was more interested in the technical aspects of how they did that. I was impressed really, and hoped to be able to do that.
Now that I can and do, do that. I am almost ashamed. But at the same time, I feel like I can't help it. I want to make every subject as beautiful and as pleasing to the eye as possible. How distorted is that?

  2. I remember seeing this ad on tv and nearly jumping of my couch and saying "YES! I made a huge rant about it and all of my friends looked at me like I was one of those guys holding those "The End is Nigh" signs.

My only problem with this ad and their other campaigns like it is that they never ran long, and a lot of them only ran in Canada from what I understand.

Trying to imagine how different the landscape would be if every beauty product company with billboards, commercials and magazine ads jumped on board . . .
