Student Activities MUST approve WISDOM (?)

Well as I was typing my previous post, I heard the familiar disgusting sound of walkie-talkies and loud boots. Then crumpled paper. Crumpled paper again. Voice on the walkie talkie:

"These signs everywhere that say FREE WISDOM aren't approved by Student Activities. Yeah they have quotes on them..."

More crumpled paper.
Really?
We have to have someone APPROVE a piece of paper, that is just doing...GOOD?
This could be from JESUS himself! I say, Student Activities can suck it. I pay too much to go here and be censored. I could see if it was rambling obscenities, but it wasn't.

Disappointing, and dumb. I think I may make more impact this weekend.

  1. Yeah Student activities are ridiculous when it comes to that stupid stamp and is something we really need to get taken care of. This is a college campus and we shouldn't have to play games to try and get a good message out. I feel your frustration.

  2. Yeah, this is a sad manifestation of power on this campus.

Imagine if you had to get a stamp from the city to put up a flier for a show or a billboard advertisement . . . oh wait.

  3. I think its ridiculous that something was harmless was taken down; the signs were inspirational and good design. I personally would have been happy to see one up close.

  4. Megan, I LOVED what you did with the idea of taking a piece of wisdom. I saw them up in different places and the impact it had on me was awesome. I read through all the "pieces of wisdom" and took my favorite! But don't forget that we have access to a certain "stamp of approval".. even if you do have to give in to that nonsense and put it on your paper to keep it on the wall. But I definitely find it annoying that you have to have something approved to hang on the wall at a University. What ever happened to freedom of press? As the amendment states... "The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or to publish their sentiments." Come on ODU!!!.. hah just liked to share that bit of info. : )
